Learning Goal: I’m working on a anthropology multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.Stonehenge is frequently in the news for several reasons. It is a famous English Heritage Site and the location of ongoing archaeology. Some of that study involves looking underground with modern technology and other research has identified the sources of the stones and the sounds they can make. Archaeologists attempt to learn more about the life ways of the ancient peoples who lived in and traveled to the area. The site has a new visitors center complete with a Neolithic village exhibit. A highway tunnel planned right near the monument has been very controversial for years. There are a variety of interest groups connected to Stonehenge including archaeologists and historians as well as modern day Druids and followers of new age religions. A man who identifies as King Arthur Pendragon is also an active advocate. Crowds gather for the annual equinox celebrations which are also watched on line.Look up several very recent news articles about Stonehenge.
