How might the journalist have acted differently, or should they have acted differently?

In May of 2021, Emily Wilder was fired from Associated Press for tweets that were apparently “pro Palestinian”. The AP justified their firing by suggesting Wilder violated the company’s social media rules. On Dec. 4, 2021, CNN fired Chris Cuomo, notable CNN star and host of The Cuomo Prime Time, for misconduct in what Cuomo claims was his support of his brother. Further claims about sexual misconduct involving Chris Cuomo have since arisen though unrelated. Both cases highlight ethical concerns about the role of journalist both inside and outside the newsroom.
