According to Porche (2012) “policy analysis is a systematic process” that helps to make sure that policies are improved and modified according to new findings.Let’s take a look at the example of the Affordable Care Act. In 2010 Ringel et all (2010) provided an analysis of the Affordable Health Care Act. In this analysis, Ringel et al (2010) besides analyzing the policy also “estimated the effects associated with different scenarios for expanding coverage.” They considered the fact the policy was not fully going to be in effect until 2014 and therefore, they had designed different scenarios that “provided insights into how the various provisions of the bill (i.e., the individual mandate, employer fees for not offering insurance, and Medicaid expansion) contribute to the estimated changes in coverage and spending” (Ringel et al, 2010)/ How do you think this particular approach of the health policy analysis can contribute to improving the Affordable Health Care Act?References:Porche, D.
