For this module, you will create a presentation on PowerPoint for your selected tool You will then turn your tool presentation PowerPoint into an MP4 podcast. Remember, the goal is for the video to explain and demonstrate to the watcher what your tool does, why they should use it, and to teach the watcher how to use your tool. How to add recordings to PowerPoints To Record to an Individual Slide (a sound) 1. Go to the page in your PowerPoint you want to add audio to. 2. Click on the “Insert” tab. 3. Left Click on the “Insert audio” button that is shaped like a speaker with lines coming from it and the word Audio below it. 4. A menu will come up with the choices “Audio on My PC” and “Record Audio”. 5. Make sure you have access to a microphone and that it is plugged in. 6. Select “Record Audio”. 7. A box will appear with a space where you can name the recording. 8. Press the red dot to start recording. 9. Press the blue square to stop recording. 10. You can listen to the recording by pressing the green triangle. 11. Press “ok” 12. A speaker will appear on the screen with a bar below it to play it and adjust the volume level. 13.Move the speaker to the desired location on the slide. To Record over the Entire Slideshow or multiple slides 1. Click on the slideshow tab. 2. Make sure you have access to a microphone and that it is plugged in. 3. Click on “Record Slide Show” (If you click by the triangle at the end of the word show you will be given the choice to select if you want to start the recording from the beginning or from the current slide) 4. A box will appear asking you to select what you want to record before you begin recording. 5. Make sure both “slide and animation timings” and Narrations, ink, and laser pointer” are selected to record the slide changes and the audio recorded. 6. Click on “start recording” 7. The PowerPoint will appear full screen with a box at the top left. 8. The box contains controls for the recording will appear. 9. The recording will start within a second or two as the timer toward the left starts counting. 10. Voice your slides. (You may re-record any slide you wish by pressing the arrow with the tail pointing left.) * the timer on the left counts the audio in the current slide while the timer on the right shows the overall length of the slideshow 11. To move on to the next slide select the arrow in the recording box, press the spacebar, or press Enter. 12. After you move past the last slide it will take you back to the normal view screen. 13. A speaker will appear in the corner of each slide that contains the audio recorded for each slide. * When playing a PowerPoint the audio and slide transitions will happen automatically. To Record a Video Screen Shot 1. Make sure that you have a microphone and that it is plugged in. 2. Go to the slide you want to insert the video on. 3. Click on the “Insert” tab. 4. Click on “Screen Recording”. 5. The cursor will turn into a plus sign. 6. Use your cursor to draw a box around the area that you want to be recorded. 7. Navigate to where you want to record video from. 8. If audio is to be recorded make sure there is a grey box around the microphone in the box. (Click on it if it is not) 9. If the path of the pointer is to be recorded make sure it is selected by the grey box around the arrow. (Click on it if it is not) 10.Press the record button and begin narration and navigation. 11.There is a countdown from 3 to when the recording begins. 12.To stop recording press the Windows logo key +Shift+Q. 13.The screen will return to the normal PowerPoint screen with the addition of the video on the last slide that was on. 14.Place the video in the desired location on the screen. 15.To listen to the video press play. To save the file as an MPEG4 1. Select “File” tab 2. Select “Save As” 3. Select the location to save the file. 4. Name the file. 5. Under the file type select MPEG 4 video- (*.mp4) 6. Select “Save” *The mp4 file will take some time to create. Progress can be viewed at the bottom of the screen in the center.
