?In this writing assignment you will have to summarize a research article from a scholarly journal. The article assigned for this summary (or rather its abridged version) – “The Correlates of Crime and Deviance: Additional Evidence” by Antonaccio et al. (2010) – is posted on Blackboard in Course Readings. You can refer to the Guide on reading research articles posted in the Course Assignments folder for helpful instructions and example on how to summarize such articles. The Guide consists of two parts: Part 1 –Sample Article and Part 2-Instructions on How to Read a Research Article (note that you are not required to summarize the article in the Guide-this is just a sample article). Your summaries should include the answers to the following questions: 1. What is the thesis or main idea from this article? 2. What are the hypotheses /research questions? 3. Is there any prior literature related to these hypotheses/research questions? 4. What methods are used to answer research questions (e.g., experiment, survey, observation etc.)? 5. What populations are studied in the study? 6. Is this a qualitative or quantitative study? 7. What are the results of the study? 8. What does the article add to our knowledge of the subject (conclusion)? The assignment should be approximately 2-3 pages long, typed (a font size 12), double-spaced on one side of white standard (8 1/2-by-11-inch) paper. Provide margins of no more than 1.25’’ on all sides. This assignment will be worth 45% of your total grade for all writing assignments.
