There is a lot of pain, disappointment, and loss in our childhood years that we don’t even realize we had until we reach adulthood. What happened? These things happen because some people were born on earth as bad eggs. They may have been raised in an environment where everything was always difficult and it just seemed like the easiest way out. Unfortunately, this is often the case and this is our experience. No matter what, when these experiences go against our nature, they damage our emotional and mental health. As children, we learn how to cope.The second stage of learning to stop allowing pain to define us is to understand that our parents, teachers, and other adults may not have been able to teach us every single thing that we needed to know growing up. While we should be grateful for having the parents of today, our parents were not there all of the time. Sometimes it’s not even their fault that we get turned away from them. Or they just don’t listen. One day something happens that makes everything else seem impossible. But that one event doesn’t make that one problem but instead leads us to believe that every problem has a solution. However, nothing about our world makes sense when it comes to why our parents or teacher aren’t there for us and where we might be going wrong. Nothing makes sense if the only reason our parents or educator are absent is that we are good to ourselves. If we think this way, then surely we can just turn inward and give “them” a chance to get in touch. But most of us don’t like to admit that we need encouragement and guidance. So, we try to look away because we want everyone to look at everyone else. Instead, how do you change your mindset to looking inward? Spend time alone.Most of us enjoy getting to know ourselves better through solitude. A little exercise in self-love isn’t too much trouble, but when we lack a connection to life outside of our relationships and friendships we feel isolated. Be sure to create space within your life for connection. Don’t wait until the perfect moment to open your arms and connect with the universe to receive love and support. Spend time alone and let yourself be vulnerable without hesitation. Even though we are all interconnected and connected we have to remember that all feelings are valid no matter what.4. When you set boundaries and choose to put limitations on your life you allow yourself to truly stand up for what you value most. Often we assume that people have no other choice but to follow the rules set forth. If you’re not experiencing those emotions or thoughts, it’s probably because you let other people run your life. If you’re scared of not being liked because of your appearance, it’s probably because you let your fears run your life first. And it’s far easier to let you own your feelings and do what’s best for you rather than letting other parties run your life. If you need help, seek professional help, but know that you are the only one with that information. And if you want to be healthy, don’t settle for a lifestyle that leaves you dissatisfied. Focus on creating happiness and confidence in your life, then choosing to do things that make you happy. Make the effort to feel good about yourself and the quality of your own life and you will begin to notice that everything else falls into place as well.7.
