Less amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere can reduce the global warming effect and hence we can avoid the negative effects of global warming on the ecosystem. One example of the negative effects of global warming is the melting of glaciers. This can result in multiple negative consequences. First, as glaciers melt, the global sea level rises. Therefore, some of the cities that are built by sea can get underwater. The construction of these cities has had a huge cost on the environment and losing these constructions means that we need to construct new constructions. New constructions will result in an additional impact on the environment.
Second, as the glaciers melt, more surface of the soil will be exposed to solar energy. Since the soil is darker compared to ice, the soil absorbs more energy compared to ice. This will further increase the temperature of the atmosphere and accelerates the melting process of glaciers. As more glaciers melt, the global sea level will increase faster, and more built construction will submerge. This will further exacerbate the negative effect that was discussed in the previous point.
Example 2 is a better analysis because it traces a greater number of links in the chain of office buildings’ environmental impact. Of course, this analysis can be expanded much further. For example, we can talk about how placing an office building in a neighborhood with diverse use can encourage people to walk and how this additional physical activity can contribute to the health and well-being of people. In this assignment, you are supposed to go as deep as you can.
